60 Dogs Rescued In Central Jersey Need Care, Foster Homes
More than 60 small dogs were rescued from a home in Central Jersey on Monday, authorities said. Many of the dogs and newborn pups need grooming, medical care and foster homes, the MCSPCA said in a statement and on its Facebook page. The Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MCSPCA) saved the dogs from from living in “horrific conditions.” at a home in the Belford section of Middletown, the MCSPCA said. Central Jersey Ferry To Manhattan Gets $5M Federal Boost
A $5 million federal grant to build a new ferry terminal in Middlesex County has been approved, officials said. Ferries would run between Raritan Bay and downtown Manhattan and be within walking distance of NJ Transit rail service. GNC on Wednesday released a list of stores that the company is closing in New Jersey and New York as part of its filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Authorities: Middletown Police Officer Filed Fake Accident Report
A Middletown police officer filed a false report after getting into an accident with his police cruiser, authorities said. Thomas E. Foster, 33, of Keyport, has been charged with falsifying records, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said in a statement. Foster was working near a road repair project on Cedar Avenue in Middletown on July 3, 2019, when an accident occurred. Water Search Continues For Missing Jersey Shore Kayaker
Authorities continued a search Friday for a Burlington County kayaker who apparently couldn’t get back to land before a storm hit the Jersey Shore. Nadem Aksoy, 50, of Bordentown and a friend were fishing in their kayaks on the Navesink River in Monmouth County when the storm blew in around midnight, his brother, Mujdad, told News 12. He "looked at his phone, the storm was coming, and then he called his friend [who] was on [a] kayak too,” his brother said. New Jersey State Police smashed a Garfield-based drug operation, seizing 5,000 heroin folds and $28,668 in suspected proceeds while arresting three people. Detectives from the NJSP Opioid Enforcement Task Force (OETF) at first focused on Luis M. Cuebas, 28, who they said ran the operation in Garfield with Victoria L. Rodriguez, also 28. Body Found On Jersey Shore Beach
Authorities said they'd initially found “no sign of trauma or other indication of criminal involvement” on a body that apparently washed up Monday morning at the Jersey Shore. A passerby found the body on Ideal Beach in Middletown around 6:20 a.m. and alerted authorities, they said. Authorities were trying to identify the victim.
