Pretzel, Water Ice Shop Closes After Half-Century In South Jersey; Fans Suggest New Locations A popular pretzel and water ice shop has closed after a half-century in business in South Jersey. South Jersey Pretzel & Water Ice announced it was closing on Facebook. “Thank you for over 50 years of support while we made the best soft pretzels and water ice anywhere. We, unfortunately, must close as our lease is ending,” the Facebook post read. The business was at 912 N. White Horse Pike in Stratford.  It originally opened in 1972 in Ocean City as Ocean City Pretzel Co. Dozens of customers reacted with sadness, and many suggested new spots they could relocate to.
