Update: Police ID Local Pedestrian, 63, Struck, Killed Outside Fair Lawn Municipal Building
A pedestrian struck and killed Wednesday morning outside the Fair Lawn municipal building lived around the corner, authorities said.
Yuri Berger, 63, was crossing Fair Lawn Avenue up the street from his Edward Street home when he was struck in the crosswalk by a 2012 Honda SUV driven by a 53-year-old Fair Lawn man around 9:45 a.m., Police Sgt. Sean Macys said.
The impact knocked him under a 2017 Mercedes Benz sedan that was stopped near the corner of Parmalee Avenue, Macys said.
Police rushed to his aid, lifting the vehicle and administering CPR before EMS took over, the sergeant said.

Police: Veteran Prostitutes Pinched In Paterson Undercover Op
An undercover police officer posing as a john netted four veteran Paterson prostitutes who waved down and propositioned him, authorities said.
The detective cruised the area of Van Houten Avenue and Auburn Street between the city public library and the Kilpatrick School on Friday, city Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said.
Arrested were Betty Morales, 47, and Nicole C. Paletta-Wright, 39, of Paterson, and Kristen D. Surlak, 34, of Fair Lawn, he said.
Also arrested, at Broadway and East 18th Street, was Dawn M. Stapowick, 47, of Paterson, the director said.

Fair Lawn PD: Four From Brooklyn, One From Long Island Nabbed With Car Stolen From Jersey City
Fair Lawn police nabbed five out-of-towners with a car stolen out of Jersey City, authorities said.
Police from surrounding towns assisted in the search for the group, who were tracked by GPS in the stolen 2019 Mercedes-Benz to Campbell Road near River Road, Sgt. Brian Metzler said.
Four of them were removed from the stolen vehicle, said Metzler, who identified them as:
Michael Johnson, 30, of Brooklyn;
Chad Watson, 24, of Lawrence, NY;
Jahvis Lambert, 22, of Brooklyn;
Joseph Algernon, 28, of Brooklyn.
