The 16-year-old girl killed in a weekend South Jersey crash has been identified as a high school athlete. Sophia Bennett was killed in the two-car crash on Friday, March 22, at the intersection of Hurffville Road and Deptford Center Road just after 8 p.m., according to police and school officials. The vehicle that Sophia was riding in was being driven by a 17-year-old Gibbstown boy, who was seriously injured, police said at the time of the crash. A 16-year-old girl was killed and a 17-year-old boy seriously injured a South Jersey crash on Friday, March 22, police said. The girl, a Washington Township (Gloucester County) resident, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Gibbstown boy, according to police in Deptford. Bed Bath & Beyond Closures Include 36 NJ Locations
Three dozen Bed Bath & Beyond stores in New Jersey are among 87 locations scheduled to close in 2023, the struggling retailer announced. That brings the total number of Bed Bath & Beyond locations scheduled to close to at least 162 announced since September 2022. A spokesperson told Axios that the latest round of closures will include all of the company's Harmon beauty shops, as well as five Buy Buy Baby locations. Woman Arrested In South Jersey Bank Heist: Police
A 33-year-old South Jersey woman was arrested in a bank heist over the weekend, authorities said. Kiara Pierce, of Sicklerville, passed a note to the teller at the Republic Bank on Deptford Center Road, then fled in a car after receiving a certain amount of money around 1:50 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, Deptford Township police said. The suspect vehicle was spotted by a patrol officer, who pulled the vehicle over and arrested Pierce, police said. She was charged with robbery, theft and terroristic threats.
