Supermarkets Running Out Of Eggs As Anger, Frustration Among Americans Mounts
Egg shortages driven by a devastating outbreak of avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, have now resulted in some supermarkets running out of this beloved staple. In various grocery stores across the country, customers have encountered shelves with limited or no egg cartons available. Customers who do find cartons available are getting sticker shock, with a dozen eggs priced as high as $15 at some stores. 36 More Defiant Pennsylvania Restaurants Closed
Pennsylvania officials announced three dozen more restaurants that have closed following defiance of the state’s COVID-19 mitigation measures. Tom Wolf issued a temporary COVID-19 mitigation order closing indoor dining, gyms and limiting indoor gatherings to a maximum capacity of 10 people. That will remain in effect until Jan. 4. Although state officials said most establishments in the commonwealth were following the orders, several others were not. And they were…

19: Pennsylvania Cracking Down On Noncompliant Businesses
More than 150 Pennsylvania businesses were warned this week that they will be facing more serious repercussions for defying COVID-19 restrictions. The restrictions close indoor dining, gyms and theaters until Jan. 4, but businesses already crippled by the pandemic say they can't afford to lose any more cash, and that they can safely stay open. The state's Department of Agriculture on Wednesday implemented a new set of enforcement actions for noncompliant restaurants, subjecting them to unannounced inspections, citations of up to $300 for each day they remain open and then -- …

2 West Nile Virus Cases Reported In NJ
Two New Jersey residents were infected with West Nile Virus, state health officials said. The first was a man in his forties from Essex County, who tested positive earlier this month, and the other a man in his seventies from Monmouth County, the New Jersey Health Department said in a release. “While WNV activity in mosquitoes has been much lower than what we have seen in previous seasons, it is important that residents continue to take precautions to prevent mosquito bites especially since most WNV human cases occur in early September,” Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli said.
