Major Storm Headed To East Coast: Here's Wintry Mix, Accumulating Snow Map There is increasing confidence that a massive storm headed toward the East Coast will bring accumulating snowfall in areas of the Northeast farther south and a mix of sleet and snow farther north. The system will move through the Midwest over the weekend before arriving in much of the Northeast on Monday, Jan. 6, according to the National Weather Service. Major hubs in the storm’s path for potential snow and ice include New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore. (See the first image above.) Snow: 4 Inches Forecast For Philadelphia, Baltimore Up to four inches of snow are expected to coat parts of Suburban Philadelphia, Baltimore, and parts of South Jersey Sunday night into Monday, forecasters say. South Jersey and the Philadelphia area might only get one or two inches, but the DC area could get as many as four, the National Weather Service says.
