Jersey Shore City Cracking Down On 'Pop-Up' Parties, Adding Police Along Beaches
A city in Monmouth County said it's renewing an effort to crack down on unauthorized “pop-up” parties. The mayor and public safety director of Long Branch issued a joint statement on Tuesday, June 4 about a "significant police presence" over the upcoming weekend. The city said a "pop-up" event was advertised on social media that was scheduled for Saturday, June 8. Stabbing, 'Civil Unrest' Cause Holiday Weekend Chaos On Jersey Shore Boardwalks: Police
A stabbing and "civil unrest" from younger people caused chaos over Memorial Day weekend in two Cape May County cities, authorities said. Large groups of teens and young adults were blamed for the nighttime incidents in Ocean City and Wildwood, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland said in a news release on Monday, May 27. A State of Emergency was declared in Wildwood early Monday, May 27, due to what police are calling "civil unrest." Protestor Taken Into Custody In Brief Clash Outside Bergen County Jail
Bergen County sheriff's officers took a protestor from Teaneck into custody during a brief flareup outside the county jail on Friday. A video posted on Instagram begins with Niko Sanabria-John, 25, straddling a barricade shortly after 3 p.m. An officer and then another grab his arm and try to pull Sanabria-John onto their side as a group grabs their fellow protestor and pull him back. Englewood PBA: Marchers Arrested After Interfering, Mayor Blasted, Independent Review Welcomed
UPDATE: Englewood’s PBA answered back on Wednesday, saying that leaders of a weekend protest march provoked their arrests by interfering in an incident along the route. Tensions were quickly escalating Saturday when the organizer of a peace march in Englewood and a city police officer went chest-to-chest. Then things got out of hand.
