A 19-year-old Penns Grove resident was arrested and charged following a double shooting in Woodbury Wednesday, Jan. 14, authorities said.
That afternoon, officers responded to reports of gunfire at North Evergreen Avenue, Gloucester County Prosecutor Andrew Johns and Woodbury Police Chief Thomas Ryan said.

A grand jury has decided not to file criminal charges against a Pemberton Township police officer involved in the fatal shooting of a 57-year-old Browns Mills man last year, authorities announced, Thursday, Nov. 20.
On Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, a 911 call reporting smoke coming from a residence was received at 3:22 p.m., Attorney General Matthew Platkin said. The Pemberton Township Volunteer Fire Department and township police officers responded to a home on Woodland Avenue, Platkin said.

A night of celebration turned into tragedy overnight when gunfire erupted inside a crowded New York City restaurant, leaving 11 people shot, with three of those dead.
The shooting broke out just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, in Brooklyn, at Taste of the City Lounge on Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights, according to authorities.

A Facebook Marketplace meeting to buy a BMW in Maryland ended in gunfire threats and a crash after three men allegedly robbed the seller at gunpoint and tried to get away in a stolen Infiniti, police said.
When the men arrived, 18-year-old Julian Chase Rose, of Beltsville, and 19-year-old Prince Chukang, of Silver Spring, “displayed a handgun and demanded the keys to the BMW,” according to the Montgomery County Department of Police.

A former Hudson County corrections officer who killed his girlfriend and her friend in 2021 has learned his fate.
John P. Menendez has been sentenced to 50 years in state prison for the killings of Anna Shpilberg and Luiza Shinkarevskaya, both 40, with his service weapon in Newark in February 2021, NJ Advance Media reports.
Police found Shpilberg, of Randolph, suffering a gunshot wound at Edison Place and Bruen Street around 9 p.m., on Feb. 16, 2021, then-Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said at the time.

Embattled Atlantic City Police Officer Dies, 30
Warren Young, a police officer in Atlantic City, died on Wednesday, July 16, according to the Atlantic City PBA Local #24. He was 30 years old.
The PBA lauded Young in a fundraising appeal, saying he served his community with "courage and compassion." Young leaves behind three children, Warren IV, 6, Bowe, 2 and Hunter, 1.
"His loss has left an unimaginable void in their lives and in the hearts of all who knew and loved him," PBA President Jules Schwenger said.

A 17-year-old Pennsauken teen was arrested and charged after firing gunshots on the Wildwood boardwalk early Saturday morning, July 5, authorities said.
At 1 a.m., officers heard multiple shots fired in the area of Cedar and Atlantic Avenues, Wildwood police said.
