A 46-year-old Hackettstown woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated on Route 46 on Tuesday, Jan. 28, authorities said. At 11:37 p.m., an officer in Hackettstown noticed a gray Hyundai traveling west on Route 46 driving erratically, failing to maintain its lane, Mount Olive police said. Following a traffic stop, the officer spoke to the driver, Ouida Sciancalepore and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage and that she appeared to be impaired, police said. A pedestrian on the sidewalk was struck and killed by a vehicle that veered off of Route 46 in Hackettstown Wednesday morning, Jan. 29, police said. The crash occurred around 10:52 a.m., when a 2018 GMC Canyon, driven by a 61-year-old Flanders man, veered off the road and hit a pedestrian walking on the sidewalk in front of the CVS Pharmacy on Main Street, according to the Hackettstown Police Department. A 42-year-old Hackettstown man was arrested and charged on Friday, Jan. 10 after he drove drunk and left the scene of a car crash in Mount Olive, authorities said. The next of kin for a New Jersey man who recently was found dead is being searched for by the Lehigh County Coroners Office according to a release on Saturday, Nov. 2. Motorcyclist Killed By Falling Tree On Route 46
A 32-year-old Hackettstown motorcyclist was killed after he was struck by a falling tree on Route 46 on Sunday, Oct. 6, authorities said. At 3:58 p.m., Travis Worrell was traveling westbound on a Honda motorcycle in White Township when a tree fell into the roadway and struck him, causing the motorcycle to overturn, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. Worrell was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.
