NJ Police Officer Who Once Saved Animals From Fire Retiring After 26 Years Rafael Burgos' law enforcement career, which was filled with accolades, is coming to an end next month. Burgos will be retiring from the Franklin Borough Police Department on Monday, Nov. 4, after 29 years of service, with the last 26 years spent in Franklin. A walkout ceremony will be held at 3:30 p.m. at police headquarters at 15 Corkhill Rd.  Aside from being a police officer, Burgos was a member of the United States Coast Guard. Out-Of-Control Tesla Crashes At Ridgewood Intersection A driver emerged with a minor injury after his Tesla plowed into a tree and several shrubs at a Ridgewood intersection. The 30-year-old driver reportedly told police he'd swerved to avoid a slow-moving vehicle that had cut in front of him at the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Manor Road shortly before 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 7. He was treated for a wrist injury that may have been caused by an airbag, responders said. A flatbed tow truck removed the wreckage.  Ridgewood police and village Fire Rescue members responded.
