A 52-year-old Teaneck man was arrested and charged after he was found transporting $32,000 in heroin, which authorities said was seized from him along the NJ Turnpike in Mercer County. Officers began surveilling Edwin Vargas after receiving information he was transporting large quantity of narcotics into Hamilton Township near the Woodrow Wilson Service Area, Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Passenger Jumps Out Of Moving SUV On NJ Turnpike In Bergen County: Police
One person was hospitalized with serious injuries after plunging out of a moving vehicle along the New Jersey Turnpike, police said. A Hyundai SUV was traveling north on the western spur in East Rutherford at milepost 113.2 around 9:50 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22 when the front seat passenger jumped from the moving car, NJSP Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. The passenger struck the pavement and sustained serious injuries. No further information was provided.

NJ Transit, Amtrak Service Resumes After Power Outage, Brush Fire
Service to NJ Transit and Amtrak trains was disrupted for the second time this week on Thursday, June 20 due to both power issues and brush fires along the NJ Turnpike, officials said. Amtrak service between Philadelphia and New Haven had been suspended while NJ Transit service in and out of NY Penn Station was also suspended, due to power issues on the Amtrak line, NJ Transit said. DUI Driver Sentenced In NJ Turnpike Crash That Killed Philadelphia Passenger: Prosecutor
A 32-year-old driver from Philadelphia has been sentenced to three years in New Jersey State Prison in connection with a crash that killed his passenger in Edison, authorities said. Yvenson Louis, 32, was sentenced on June 12 in connection with the fatal crash that occurred on March 27, 2023, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone.
