A New York State Police trooper is recovering after being shot on a Long Island highway. The incident happened on the Southern State Parkway in West Hempstead, in the westbound lanes near exit 17, late Wednesday night, Oct. 30. According to police, a trooper exchanged gunfire with a suspect before the suspect fled the scene. The trooper was taken to a hospital and was listed in stable condition early Thursday, Oct. 31. Police were investigating after two men were shot in a New Brunswick neighborhood near the Rutgers University campus, authorities said. Officers responded to the shooting on Jones Avenue between Comstock and Hale streets at around 11:17 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, the New Brunswick city government said in a Facebook post. Wildwood Woman, 75, Killed In Early Morning Garden State Parkway Crash: Troopers
A Wildwood woman died after an early morning crash on the Garden State Parkway in Port Republic, authorities said. Audrey McCash, 75, was killed in the crash on Saturday, Sept. 28, a state police spokesperson said. Troopers responded to the wreck near milepost 46.6 on the southbound side of the parkway at around 12:26 a.m. Investigators said a Subaru Outback went off the parkway and struck several trees. McCash was rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. The 76-year-old Wildwood man who drove the SUV was injured in the crash. He was expected to survive his injuries. …

Two People Saved When Sailboat Runs Aground Along Jersey Shore, Firefighters Say
Two people were rescued after their large sailboat ran aground in Ocean City, officials said. Emergency crews responded to the beach near 22nd Street at around 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, the Ocean City Firefighters Association said in a Facebook post. Driver Airlifted After Crashing SUV Into Jersey Shore Home On Labor Day, Police Say
A driver was airlifted after crashing into a home in New Egypt on Labor Day, authorities said. Plumsted police, firefighters, and paramedics responded to the crash at the intersection of Brindletown Road and Front Street early in the evening on Monday, Sept. 2, the township said in a Facebook post. The driver was the only person in the SUV and was taken by helicopter to a hospital. No one was in the home during the crash. Crews worked to make the house structurally sound and "delicately" removed the SUV.

Motorcyclist Escapes Serious Injury After Crash In Jackson: Police
A motorcyclist escaped serious injury after she crashed in Jackson on Friday afternoon, July 26, authorities said. She crashed at about 2:15 p.m. at the corner of North New Prospect and Farmingdale roads, according to Jackson Police Chief Matthew Kunz. The unidentified rider complained of arm, shoulder and back pain and was taken to an area hospital, the chief said. No other details were immediately available.

Authorities have released additional information in the double shooting Wednesday, June 12 in Carteret. Two females were found having suffered gunshot wounds on Roosevelt Avenue around 9 a.m., and were airlifted to area hospitals, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Carteret Police Chief Dennis McFadden said. As of 2:30 p.m., one victim had died and the other remains critical, Ciccone and McFadden said.
