Firefighters responded to West Main Street for the four-alarm blaze just after 2:30 p.m., the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said. The explosion occurred about noon on Friday, May 24 near Main Street and Sayreville Boulevard, police said in a release. Sayreville police said a related fire was under control. Main Street was closed between Sayreville Blvd South and MacArthur Avenue. According to JCP&L, 4,300 customers were without power. There was no ETA on power restoration.
