World Champion Judo Master, Retired Paterson Fire Captain Anthony 'Tony' Camal Dies, 63
Anthony "Tony" Camal, a world-renowned Judo master and Paterson firefighter, died on Monday, July 29, according to his obituary on the Festa Memorial website. He was 63 years old. Raised in Inwood, NY, Camal later moved to Totowa and Paterson, where he served for 15 years on the fire department before retiring as captain in 2013. He later settled in Woodland Park. Camal was the head sensei of Camal & Cruz Judo and Jiu Jitsu Academy since 1995, having been a sixth-degree black belt and world champion, according to his obituary. NJ Electrical Engineer Nic Fink Breaks 120-Year Record At Paris Olympics
Nic Fink, a Morristown native, is an electrical engineer. Oh, and now he's an Olympic medalist. Fink, 31, won the silver medal in the men's 100m breaststroke on Sunday, July 28, missing out on the gold in a photo finish. Fink is the oldest American to be a first-time medal winner in swimming since the 1904 Olympics. And he does that all that while balancing a full-time job as an assistant project manager for an engineering firm in Atlanta, GA.
