Somerset County Man Sentenced After Defrauding $4 Mil From Brain Injury Fund: Feds
A 58-year-old Somerset County man was sentenced on Thursday, Nov. 14, to 7.5 years in prison after he was convicted of defrauding millions from the New Jersey Brain Injury Fund, authorities said.
C.R. Kraus, a Manville resident, was convicted in April of conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud, five acts of healthcare fraud, and four counts of tax evasion, US Attorney Philip Sellinger said. Two of Kraus' co-conspirators pled guilty for their role in the scheme and are awaiting sentencing, Sellinger said.

An Egg Harbor City man will spend nearly three years in prison after he was found with violent child pornography, authorities said.
Anthony Barbarino, 38, was sentenced on Thursday, Oct. 24 to 33 months for possession of child pornography, New Jersey's U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said in a news release.
According to court documents and statements, Barbarino had 93 pictures and 108 videos of child sexual abuse on three electronic devices between Tuesday, Apr. 12, 2022, and Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022.

A 25-year-old Somerset County man was sentenced on Monday, Sept. 30, to 64 months in prison, time served, after he pleaded guilty to concealing his attempts to provide support to Hamas, authorities said.
Jonathan Xie, a Basking Ridge resident, admitted to sending money to Hamas to fund violent acts against Israeli civilians while brandishing a gun and holding a Hamas flag on an Instagram Live stream, US Attorney Phillip Sellinger said. He had pleaded guilty in 2020 and was being held without bail.
