Shelter In Place Lifted At FDU Florham Campus, Person With Gun Arrested: Authorities A shelter in place was lifted at Fairleigh Dickinson University's Florham Campus on the early morning of Thursday, Nov. 21, the school said. On the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 20, Fairleigh Dickinson received a report of a person with a gun on campus, Joseph Vitiello, Director of Public Safety at the school said. Police were notified and a shelter in place was issued, Vitiello said. The order remained in effect for several hours as local police conducted a search for the individual, Vitiello said. The seven-point margin (50 to 43) is largely due to race and gender, the FDU poll shows. He was going for an FBI agent, but while growing up in Rutherford and meeting his friends' parents and coaches who were police officers, he decided to switch gears. Twenty-six years into his law enforcement career, and 11 years in his role as Rutherford Police Chief, Russo has been sworn in to a one-year term as the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police's 109th president.
