A 27-year-old East Orange man is accused of sexually assaulting and robbing two women in Elizabeth, police said. Jameel Alston carried out the first incident at Motel 6 on Aug. 28, when the victim reported being sexually assaulted and robbed by an armed intruder, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel said. A second incident, an armed robbery of another woman, happened shortly after at the Ritz Motel. A New Jersey fugitive wanted in a deadly train station shooting and a home invasion was arrested in northeastern Pennsylvania, authorities said. U.S. Marshals took 19-year-old Damian Bass into custody, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said in a news release on Friday, Sept. 6. Bass' last known address was in Fanwood. A 28-year-old Jersey City man was sentenced on Thursday, July 25 to 17 years in prison after pleading guilty to strangling a 27-year-old woman in 2021, authorities said. Tyquan Baisden pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter in May, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
