Four people have been charged for their roles in a violent home invasion that left a Cumberland County detective dead, authorities announced.
Nyshawn Mutcherson, 29, of Vineland; Jarred Brown, 31, of Bridgeton; and Richard Hawkins Willis, 32, of Gloucester City, were each charged with first-degree murder, the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release on Monday, Oct. 28. Bayonne Burglar, 'Heavyset' Getaway Driver Tracked Down In Jersey City: Police
A Jersey City man trying to break into a Bayonne home and his getaway driver are in custody, police said.
Kenneth Dowdy, 43, was dressed in all black and trying to pry open an apartment door at 233 Avenue B in Bayonne when he was confronted by a building resident around 7:25 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, police said.
"A witness then saw the actor enter the passenger seat of a vehicle that was parked nearby, which was being driven by a ‘heavy-set” female," police said in a release.

A 57-year-old Paterson resident who broke into a home in Wallington was arrested and charged on Thursday, Sept. 26, police said.
The first burglary occurred on Main Ave. on Thursday, Sept. 19, when the suspect, later identified as Leon Roberts, forcibly kicked in the front door of the home, Wallington police said in a release. While the homeowner did not report anything missing, the damage to the front door was $500, police said.

A 38-year-old Hillside man was arrested and charged with breaking into a vape shop in Union Township on Thursday, Sept. 26, and other burglaries that occurred last month, authorities said.
At 5:07 a.m., police responded to Kush Smoke Shop on Route 22 and found the front door of the business had been shattered by a large rock, and saw a person, later identified as Hasan Williams-Chapman running from the business, Union Township police said.

Car Burglar Busted In Wallington After Trying To Flee On Bike: Police
A man was arrested in Wallington on the early morning of Monday, Sept. 23 after being wanted for multiple vehicle break-ins, authorities said.
At 4:54 a.m., officers were on patrol at Wallington Avenue and Lester Street when they observed a man, Rashon Johnson, who had been wanted for committed multiple motor vehicle burglaries in the region, Wallington police said.

Man Broke Into Convenience Store, Stole Cigarettes, Lotto Tickets: Newark PD
A man is at large after he broke into a convenience store in Newark and stole cash and other items on Friday, Sept. 13, authorities said.
At 3 a.m., the suspect broke into Downneck Convenience Store on Pacific Street, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The suspect was captured on surveillance video smashing the front glass door with a rock, Fragé said.

Man Riding Scooter Broke Into Newark Dunkin': Police
A man riding a scooter is at large after he broke into a Dunkin in Newark on Saturday, Sept. 7, authorities said.
At 3:23 a.m., the man arrived at Dunkin at 794 Franklin Ave. on a scooter, and then used an object to break in, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said.

A 32-year-old New York man is facing charges in Paramus, NJ for pretending he was held at knifepoint in one location when, in fact, he was burglarizing another, police said.
Officers were called to the Dunkin parking lot at 492 Route 17 North on Sunday, Sept. 1 where Jonathan Gardner, of Canastota, NY, had told authorities he was being held at knifepoint and suffered a slash to his arm while defending himself from an attacker, Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti said.

18 Unsolved Burglaries Cracked: Pair Arrested In Months-Long North Jersey Spree
Two men have been arrested and charged in 18 burglaries and one attempted burglary across North Jersey, authorities said.
A months-long investigation found Kali J. Carter, 49, of East Orange, and Demetrius D. Hale, 49, of Bergenfield, were responsible for the incidents, all of which were residential burglaries, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

Five men and one juvenile were recently arrested and charged with numerous residential and vehicle burglaries in Somerset County, authorities said.
In October 2023, broke into a Bernards Township home through a rear sliding window and stole a 2023 Mercedes Benz, Somerset County Prosecutor John McDonald announced.
