'Historic Low': NJ Reservoir Drops Below Half Capacity As Wildfires Burn Across State
The Manasquan Reservoir, a crucial water source in Monmouth County, has dropped to historically low levels as New Jersey experiences wildfires and drastic drought conditions. The reservoir's water elevation was recorded at 91.27 feet above sea level on the morning of Monday, Nov. 18, according to Marc Brooks, executive director of the New Jersey Water Supply Authority (NJWSA). A Long Branch woman was accused of using her former employer's credit card to buy herself more than $80,000 in items, authorities said. Nadine Hurd, 37, was charged with second-degree theft by unlawful taking, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said in a news release on Monday, Sept. 30. Investigators said Hurd spent more than $80,000 between 2018 and 2023 while working as the customer service and inventory manager for an unnamed manufacturing company in Wall Township. Sundown Swimmers At Unguarded NJ Beach Rescued
Three swimmers were rescued while in the water after sunset in Ocean Grove, officials said. Rescuers were called to a swimmer in distress near the pier at the Main Avenue beach at around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, the ANSWER team said in a Facebook post. The report was quickly upgraded to three swimmers in distress. When emergency crews arrived, they saw the three swimmers screaming for help.
