The rightward shift of the country in the 2024 presidential election happened right in the Garden State. Vice President Kamala Harris defeated President-Elect Donald Trump in New Jersey, 51% to 47% with 94% of the results in, which marks a 12-point shift from 2020, when President Joe Biden defeated Trump, 57% to 41%. Monmouth County voters led the Garden State for early in-person voting in the 2024 Presidential election, officials said. County clerk Christine Hanlon said Monmouth was the top county in the state for early voting. A New York State Police trooper is recovering after being shot on a Long Island highway. The incident happened on the Southern State Parkway in West Hempstead, in the westbound lanes near exit 17, late Wednesday night, Oct. 30. Teri Garr, the New Jersey actress who many knew from "Young Frankenstein," died on Tuesday, Oct. 29. She was 79 years old. According to the New York Times, Garr's publicist, Heidi Schaeffer, said the cause was complications of multiple sclerosis.
