More information has come to light about the 18-year-old Wayne resident killed in a boating accident over the weekend in Harvey Cedars. Zeina Mahafzah was days away from beginning her freshman year at Rutgers University, as classes start on Tuesday, Sept. 2. A school bus and two other vehicles crashed in Neptune Township, officials said. The crash happened on Route 33 East near the intersection with Jumping Brook Road, the Neptune Township Office of Emergency Management said in a Facebook post at 8:46 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 9. No children were on the bus during the crash. Neptune paramedics responded to the scene to treat people for minor injuries. A 66-year-old driver struck and seriously injured a 14-year-old bicyclist in a Mercer County town over the weekend, police said. Two drivers including the husband of a woman killed were found at fault in the Route 9 crash last month in Old Bridge, authorities said. Benjamin Futerman, 32, of Manalapan, and Wilson Familia, 22, of Old Bridge, have both been charged in the June 2 crash on Route 9 at Ferry Road that left Kristina Godich dead and several others injured, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Old Bridge Police Chief Thomas J. A 7,000-gallon tanker truck struck a railroad bridge in Woodbridge on Wednesday afternoon, July 10, authorities said. Woodbridge police could not immediately confirm the tanker's contents but said there were no major leaks and no injuries. The crash occurred at about 2 p.m. at Green Street and Rahway Avenue. An unconfirmed report said the tanker was carrying jet fuel. Hazmat crews and NJ Transit were at the scene of the crash, police said. Six people were injured, including three firefighters, when townhomes caught fire near the Toms River waterfront, officials said.
