Hit-Run Crash Leaves Pedestrian Critical, Ocean County Prosecutor Says
Authorities in Ocean County are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian seriously injured. The male victim was trying to cross Route 9 at First Street in a marked crosswalk around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, June 16 when he was struck by a white sedan heading north, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said. The white sedan continued northbound on Route 9 and left the scene. A female driver was saved from overdosing at a DWI checkpoint in Monmouth County, authorities said. The unidentified woman pulled into the checkpoint off Asbury Park Circle in Ocean Township at night on Friday, May 31, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said in a news release on Friday, June 7. Two teens were accused of killing a man in a triple shooting in Asbury Park nearly a year ago, authorities said. Michael Sally, 19, of Long Branch, and an unidentified boy were facing charges in the shooting that killed 21-year-old Lativity Lyons of Asbury Park. A Mercer County man was critically injured in a late-night crash in Manchester Township, authorities said. A man wielding a chainsaw was shot and critically wounded by police sent to his Keansburg home on a welfare check, authorities said.
