SWAT Team, FBI Track Down Repeat Offender In NJ Bird Store Crossbow Attack
A 53-year-old man accused of shooting a pet store employee in the face with a crossbow in North Jersey was tracked down less than 24 hours later with help from the FBI and the Bergen County SWAT team, and more, in Ocean County, authorities said.
Raymond M. Carey, of Hasbrouck Heights, was captured in Pine Beach on Tuesday, Feb. 18, in connection with the åssault at Birds By Joe 2 (where a $7,000 African parrot was stolen last month) on Route 46 in Saddle Brook, according to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella and store employees.

Airport Bomb Threat, SWAT Standoff That Locked Down School Ends In Arrest Of NJ Man, 38
A bomb threat at Atlantic City Airport earlier this month led to a dramatic standoff and the arrest of a 38-year-old Egg Harbor Township man, authorities said.
The incident began on Jan. 10, at approximately 6:56 a.m., when New Jersey State Police responded to a bomb threat at the airport in Egg Harbor Township, Atlantic County, NJSP Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said.
A thorough sweep of the terminal revealed no explosive devices. Investigators identified the suspect as Long Pham, who was charged with false public alarm and terroristic threats, both third-degree offenses, Lebron said.

Man Harassed Candy Store, Stole $90: Denville PD
A 26-year-old Vineland man was arrested and charged on Thursday, Jan. 2, after he was harassing employees at a candy store in Denville, authorities said.
At 11:35 a.m. officers responded to Sweet Expressions by Geri at 26 Broadway on a report of a man, Markeese Brazelis, bothering staff and acting unruly, Denville police said. Brazelis had entered the staff area and stole $90 in cash, police said.
Brazelis was located walking in the center of town and ultimately placed under arrest for the theft of the cash, police said. He was charged with theft by unlawful taking, police said.
SantaCon Shenanigans: 8 Arrested In Hoboken As Police Handle Fights, Crashes, Chaos
Some people attending SantaCon 2024 in Hoboken, including several from out of state, couldn't help but end up on the naughty list.
Hoboken police said eight people were arrested at the annual event on Saturday, Dec. 21, where people dress up as Santa Claus for a bar crawl, a spinoff of the popular event held every year in New York City (scroll down for details).
Overall, police issued 16 traffic summonses, dealt with 13 fights, and responded to three motor vehicle crashes, police said. Last year saw only two arrests.

A 20-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Friday, Dec. 6 after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting and robbing a woman in Morristown in 2022.

A shelter in place was lifted at Fairleigh Dickinson University's Florham Campus on the early morning of Thursday, Nov. 21, the school said.
On the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 20, Fairleigh Dickinson received a report of a person with a gun on campus, Joseph Vitiello, Director of Public Safety at the school said. Police were notified and a shelter in place was issued, Vitiello said.
