Inmate Charged With Selling Former Star HS Wrestler Fentanyl That Killed Him: Prosecutor A 28-year-old Paterson man who had been jailed on weapons offenses has been charged in the overdose death of a 26-year-old Bergen County man in 2023, authorities said. Vashawn A. Davis sold Tyler Kallensee, of Oradell, the fentanyl that killed him on Sunday, July 23, 2023, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. Kallensee was found by officers responding to a 9-1-1 call reporting an unresponsive man in a private home. Kallensee was pronounced dead at the scene, and indicators of a possible drug overdose were noted, Musella said. The 16-year-old Bergen County native, Team USA's youngest competitor, earned a gold medal alongside her four teammates at Paris Olympics 2024 in the finals on Tuesday, July 30. While Rivera didn't compete in the finals, she did help boost her team's score to qualify for the finals on the uneven bars, where she earned 13.900 (her beam score was dropped). Simone Biles and Team USA took the gold medal at the finals with a score of  171.296. More than five points behind them is second-place Italy, with Bravil in third. That's what Bergen County native Hezly Rivera captioned an Instagram post showing stills from her beam and bars routine at the Paris Olympics Sunday, July 28. Rivera, 16, is the youngest American athlete competing in Paris, and got off to a rather wobbly start in the qualifiers on beam. See videos below. The 16-year-old Bergen County native who at 9 said she dreamed of making a spot on the USA gymnastics team did just that. She's headed to the Paris Olympics. Hezly, whose family moved from  Oradell to Plano, TX, finished fifth in the all-around competition at the Olympic trial last week. Her final score of 111.15 put her on Team USA alongside vets Simone Biles, Jade Carey, Suni Lee, and Jordan Chiles. Update: Dogs Die In New Milford House Fire Two dogs were killed in a New Milford house fire early Tuesday night, authorities said. The residents weren't home when the blaze broke out in the kitchen at the back of the Voorhis Avenue home and quickly spread shortly after 7 p.m., New Milford Police Chief Brian Clancy said. Borough firefighters were immediately joined by their colleagues from Oradell and River Edge, with New Milford Fire Chief Gerry Smithson operating as the scene commander, the chief said.
