Freak Accident Kills Boy, 12, Playing In NJ Backyard: Police
A New Jersey boy was killed when a tree fell on him in a backyard, authorities said. Lucas Schwartz, 12, was identified as the victim of the Eldridge Avenue incident in Lawrence Township on a GoFundMe page. Police said he'd been playing with a friend in the backyard of a home when gusty winds blew the tree over, and it fell onto him around 12:09 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14. Organs Of High School Football Player Killed In NJ Tesla Crash Will Help Others Live
An 18-year-old man has died nearly a week after the Tesla he was riding in was involved in a crash, police in South Jersey said. Daniel "Danny" Hass, a student at Notre Dame High School in Lawrence Township, died Saturday, Aug. 24, his family said in a post on social media. "Our happy, beautiful, warm, loving and beloved son was declared brain dead this morning," his family said. "Danny wanted to be an organ donor, and we are following his wishes! Body Recovered From Delaware & Raritan Canal In Mercer County
First responders were pulling a body from the Delaware & Raritan Canal in Mercer County on Wednesday afternoon, July 3, authorities said. New Jersey State Park Police and the Trenton Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team were called to a part of the canal in Lawrence Township to recover the body, according to Caryn Shinske, a spokeswoman with the state Department of Environmental Protection. A medical examiner was en route to the scene at 2:15 p.m., she said. Additional details weren’t immediately available.

The owner of three restaurants in Trenton has been arrested for multiple sexual assaults including a job applicant, authorities said. The National Weather Service has confirmed a landspout tornado touched down in a New Jersey town last week. The EF-0 twister took down trees and flipped several cars in a post office parking lot for exactly one minute in Lawrence Township (Mercer County) on Friday, June 14.
