A ShopRite employee has detailed the situation the brought a major police presence to a New Jersey ShopRite on Saturday night, Oct. 12. A Lawnside ShopRite employee said a couple was arguing loudly around 6:50 p.m. The man was holding a knife to his female partner's stomach, the employee said. Multiple agencies arrived around 7 p.m. One agency brought K9 units, which the employee said helped apprehend the man, who came out on a stretcher, the employee said. Charges have been filed against a 79-year-old Union County man who was arrested after a SWAT standoff early Wednesday, July 2. Kenneth Kutyla, of Clark, has been charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a firearm, and possession of a firearm for unlawful purpose, local police said.
