A Somerset County police chief was convicted of sexual misconduct toward his subordinates while on duty on Thursday, Feb. 13, authorities said.
Thomas Herbst, a 57-year-old Bridgewater chief and former police chief in Manville was convicted of official misconduct, sexual assault and criminal sexual contact, authorities said, State Attorney General Matthew Platkin said.

At 3:39 a.m., while responding to a home on Robin Hill Road for a break-in, officers saw a white BMW X3 speeding down the street, North Caldwell police said. Officer Spots Handgun In Route 17 Stop Of Mississippi Women, Police Say
A routine traffic stop on Route 17 led to the arrest of two Mississippi women after officers spotted a handgun in plain view inside their vehicle, police said.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, Jan. 28, when Ramsey police stopped a blue Honda Accord with a Mississippi registration on Route 17 South, according to Ramsey Police Lt. Jeff Guilfoyle.
During the investigation, officers saw a handgun in plain view within the vehicle. The occupants, identified as Raven Johnson, 35, and Katrina McPherson, 51, were arrested without incident, Guilfoyle said.

A 19-year-old Paterson man who police say committed multiple traffic violations in an ATV on major roadways was found with a handgun and burglary tools after leading a foot pursuit, authorities in Clifton said.
The incident began around 5:03 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, when Clifton Officers Benjamin Bressel and Fabricio Martinez, patrolling near the Route 21 North and Route 46 East merge, spotted a rider on a 2014 Honda TRX ATV, Lt. Hoboken Lululemon Loses $39K In Merch To Thieves, Police Say
Multiple shoplifters are at large after stealing items from a Lululemon in Hoboken on eight different incidents this year, authorities said.
The shopliftings occurred between Friday, Aug. 30 and Tuesday, Nov. 26, Hoboken police said. Each time, the shoplifters entered the store at 313 Washington St., took multiple items, and left without paying, police said.
The thieves made off with more than $39,000 in merchandise, police said.

A 74-year-old man was airlifted to the hospital after suffering a head injury in a fall outside a Bergen County apartment complex Monday afternoon, Dec. 2, police said.
