Details Released In Route 3 Dump Truck Crash In Clifton

Police have released details in a dump truck crash that closed a portion of Route 3 early Monday, Oct. 14.

The 38-year-old Budd Lake (Morris County) driver lost control of the 2022 Mack truck in the eastbound lanes in Clifton while trying to avoid a crash with another car around 5:05 a.m. near Main Avenue, Police Lt. Robert Anderson said.

The dump truck overturned and came to a rest after hitting a utility pole on the eastbound shoulder. No injuries were reported.

The dump truck is owned by a construction company from Lake Hopatcong.

As of 12:40 p.m., two right lanes remained closed, the NJDOT site shows.
