A 32-year-old man from Gloucester County is accused of defrauding an elderly woman out of $341,000 in home repairs he never did, authorities said. On Tuesday, July 23, Christopher Fuscellaro of Mantua Township was arrested and charged with theft, theft by deception and being an unlicensed contractor, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office. A truck driver was hospitalized after running off Route 55 in Deptford, authorities said. A portion of Route 55 was closed for more than two hours due to the crash on Wednesday, July 24, according to the NJDOT. Troopers responded at about 4 p.m. on Route 55 north milepost 59.6, according to Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron, a New Jersey State Police spokesman. IRS Announces 'Revolutionary' Electronic Tax Filing System For NJ Residents
The IRS and New Jersey are offering a new free electronic way to file taxes. The program, called IRS Direct File, was tested in 12 states including New Jersey during the 2023 tax filing season. Eligible taxpayers will be able to use Direct File, which is offered in English and Spanish, for their 2024 tax returns. The services has a deadline of April 15, 2025. Cape May County leaders are issuing a warning after eight mosquito groups tested positive for West Nile virus and eastern equine encephalitis.
