Man Arrested For Deadly Stabbing In South Jersey Alley, Police Say
A Millville man was accused of stabbing another man to death in downtown Bridgeton, authorities said. Cornell Becton, 37, was arrested on unrelated charges at around 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, the Bridgeton Police Department said in a news release on Monday, Oct. 14. He was also given charges in the killing of 59-year-old Wilbert Pace, which happened that morning. Man Found With Stab Wounds Dies In Downtown Bridgeton, Police Say
A Bridgeton man was found dead from a stabbing early in the morning, authorities said. Wilbert Pace, 59, died on Friday, Oct. 11, the Bridgeton Police Department said in a news release. Officers responded to East Commerce Street between Laurel Street and Mayor Aitken Drive at around 3:30 a.m. Police found Pace suffering from several stab wounds behind a downtown building. Report: South Jersey Inmate Killed Man 2 Days After COVID Prison Release
A 25-year-old South Jersey man behind bars on burglary charges was released from prison to reduce the spread of COVID-19 -- then two days later shot and killed someone, according to a news report. Jerry D. Crawford of Atlantic City was released to mandatory parole supervision Nov. 4, 2020, and on Nov. 6, shot and killed 18-year-old Bridgeton resident Davion Scarbrough, NJ Advance Media reports citing correctional officials.
