The latest in a growing number of "swatting" incidents unnecessarily brought a squadron of police and tactical team members to an otherwise quiet Maywood neighborhood just off Route 17. A phony caller told police he had just shot his wife twice in the chest and was holding his neighbor at gunpoint after finding them having an affair shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday, Maywood Police Chief Terence R. A man was beaten, stomped on and bashed in the head with a chair during a vicous brawl Friday night in the food court of the Garden State Plaza in Paramus, authorities said. A Guatemalan national living in Maywood was charged with sexually assaulting two Palisade Park pre-teens. Jaime Ottoniel Roca, 41, fondled one of the victims over the course of two years while committing more invasive acts on another, a complaint on file in Superior Court in Hackensack says. An unconscious 92-year-old swimmer was floating face down in the Maywood Municipal Pool when responders rushed to the rescue, authorities said.
