Sports Cameraman Killed In Cape May Boating Accident: 'Great Man, Better Friend'
The 45-year-old boater killed this week in Cape May Harbor is being mourned by those who knew him. Christopher W. Heitman, a longtime camera operator for various news networks, was operating a 17-foot Sea Hunt struck a pipe that broke free from its mooring and entered the channel around 2:20 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, New Jersey State Police said. Heitman and passenger were ejected, police said. While the passenger was able to get back on the boat, Heitman was not. His body was later recovered. A self-proclaimed South Jersey “influencer” who live-streamed his arrest by federal authorities was charged with running one of the largest-ever illegal TV pirating rings. Bill Omar Carrasquillo – aka “Omi in a Hellcat” -- has insisted that he amassed a $30 million fortune, a stockpile of more than 50 vehicles and dozens of properties through a construction company and as a landlord. Suspected Tornado Rips Through Jersey Shore Town
A suspected tornado ripped through a Jersey Shore town Thursday night, damaging 35 homes, several boats and injuring several people, police said. Three 9-1-1 calls came in at 9:22 p.m. in Long Beach Island, reporting roofs ripped off multiple houses and downed utility poles.
