Dead Dog Tied To Tree: South Jersey Trio Indicted For Animal Cruelty, Prosecutor Says
Three Atlantic County residents have been indicted for animal cruelty, authorities said.
On Thursday, July 6, Derek Hardy, 58, Lassale Hardy, 56, and Shak Balayet, 51, all of Egg Harbor Township, were indicted by an Atlantic County grand jury.
They were charged in connection with the death of one dog and the near death of another, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
On May 10, the Egg Harbor Township Police Department responded to Wilburforce Avenue for a report of two abandoned dogs.

A woman originally linked to dozens of dead dogs reached a plea-bargained agreement admitting to killing six dogs, authorities said.
Donna Roberts' guilty plea calls for 90 days in Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina.
Roberts, 68, of Shamong, pleaded guilty to animal cruelty for causing the death of six dogs that were being kept at her property by failing to provide them with proper care, Coffina said.

NJ Man, 19, Charged With Animal Cruelty After Starving Pets To Death, Prosecutor Says
A 19-year-old Union County man is facing criminal charges of animal cruelty after severely neglecting three pets, two of who died, authorities said.
Plainfield police were called to Rock Avenue on reports of a suspicious item dumped on the side of the road, where they found the body of a severely emaciated pit bull inside of a plastic bag on Nov. 3, Union County Assistant Prosecutor Patricia Cronin said.
A subsequent investigation found that Aiden R. Turso, 19, had three pets that had suffered severe neglect, Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo said.
