Kacheim Davis of Camden, has been charged with first-degree murder in the homicide of Christine Pierce, 41, of Camden, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.

About 9 p.m. on Saturday, Camden City firefighters were dispatched to an apartment on the 800 block of Haddon Ave. on a report of smoke detectors going off.

Once inside, they located and extinguished a small stove fire before finding Pierce unresponsive with a stab wound to her back in another room, Mayer and Rodriguez said.

Pierce was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead, they said.

Through an investigation, it was determined Davis was at Pierce’s house the day of the crime and the two had been arguing, the prosecutor said.

Davis was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division and the Washington Township Police Department.

He was taken to the Camden County Correctional Facility where he was awaiting a detention hearing.
