South Jersey Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Bar Shooting: Prosecutor

Authorities have arrested a 42-year-old South Jersey man in connection with a bar shooting.

Carl Young, of Merchantville, was apprehended on Sunday, March 6, according to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Pennsauken Police Chief Philip Olivo.

Young was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and related weapons offenses in the shooting of a 35-year-old man from Merchantville, MacAulay and Olivo said.

On March 6, at approximately 2:58 a.m., police responded to Bryson’s Pub located on the 3400 block of Cove Road in Pennsauken, for a shooting. 

An investigation revealed the victim was shot once in the face by Young after a verbal dispute between the two men in the parking lot, they said.

The victim was taken to Cooper Hospital by Pennsauken EMS in stable condition and has since been released. Young fled the scene on foot. He was later arrested, and his weapon was recovered, authorities said.

Young was being held in the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing.
