Cats Killed In South Jersey House Fire, Residents Left Homeless

Two cats were killed and four residents left homeless by a fire that gutted a townhouse in South Jersey, authorities said.

No one was injured in the blaze, fire officials from Camden County IAFF Local 3249 said.

The fire broke out about 12:40 a.m. Monday, destroying a two-story residence on Oakmont Road in  h Cherrywood section of Gloucester Township. police and fire officials said.

First arriving Squad Company 88 found heavy smoke showing from the first and second floors of the home. 

The Red Cross provided  temporary housing for the displaced residents.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
