Woman Dumps Dog At Sussex County Animal Shelter: 'Sorry, His Name Is Roscoe' Police are investigating after a woman abandoned a black hound mix in need of urgent medical care at a Sussex County animal shelter on Thursday, Dec. 26, officials said. At approximately 10:55 a.m., the woman, described as having black hair and wearing a green Jets hoodie and mask, entered the shelter and threw the dog’s leash at a staff member. Driver Crossed Double Yellow Lines In Sussex County Crash, Police Seek Help Tracking Them Down Police in Hopatcong are seeking the public’s help in a hit-and-run crash investigation. The Hopatcong Police Department said the incident happened near 130 Dupont Ave. around 7:40 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13. The vehicle was trying to pass another motorist when they crossed over the double yellow line and hit a moving car and three parked cars, the HPD said.  The involved vehicle is believed to be a blue sedan with heavy front-end damage and missing part of the passenger side front bumper. The abandonment occurred on Sparta Road at 5:20 a.m., Hopatcong police said. The cats were abandoned in cardboard carriers at Lakeside Construction and required medical attention, police said. Similar incidents involving the same individuals, carriers, and breed of cats had occurred at a Morris County Animal Shelter and a Sussex County Animal Shelter within the past week., police said.
