NJ Transit Employee Missing: Newark Police A 45-year-old Newark man who works for NJ Transit, was reported missing on Saturday, Dec. 14. Jason Gray last spoke with his family on Friday, November 22, Newark Public Safety Director Eugene Miranda said. He has not reported to his workplace, and his neighbors near the 700 block of South Orange Avenue have not seen him for the past few weeks, Miranda said. Gray is 5'9" and 160 lbs. with a bald head and brown eyes, Miranda said.  Anyone with information is asked to call police at 1-877-695-8477.

At 10:01 a.m., police observed two men exiting a stolen vehicle at S. 10th Street and South Orange Avenue,  Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Double Shooting Leaves 1 Dead In Newark, Prosecutor Says A 27-year-old Newark resident was fatally shot in a double shooting on the evening of Tuesday June 4, authorities said. At 9:30 p.m., police responded to the 200 block of South Orange Avenue and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage said. Shots Fired Near Two Newark Schools: Police Gunshots were fired near Newark schools on the afternoon of Monday, May 20, authorities said. At 3:35 p.m., police responded to South 11th Street and South Orange Avenue on a report of shots fired, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. KIPP Rise Academy, a charter school for students from 5th grade to 8th grade, and West Side High School are located minutes from the shooting location.  Police did not locate any gunshot victims, Fragé said. The investigation is ongoing, Fragé said.
