NJ Firefighter Severely Injured In Crash Day Before Father's Greek Burial
Support is on the rise for a New Jersey firefighter who was severely injured in a car crash the night before he was set his father's burial in Greece. Anthony Zougras, a Martinsville firefighter, was in the crash on Wednesday, Aug. 7, according to a GoFundMe set up to support his medical expenses. Zougras' father, Dionysios, had died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 21 and it was his wish to be buried in his hometown of Zakynthos, Greece, according to the fundraiser. Former Central Jersey Recreation Director Killed In I-287 Crash: 'A Real Straight-Up Guy'
A Plainfield man was killed in a crash on Interstate 287 in Piscataway, authorities said. David Wynn, 68, died in the wreck on I-287 South on Thursday, Aug. 15, a state police spokesperson said. Troopers responded to the crash near milepost 8.8 at around 8:24 p.m. Investigators said Wynn was driving a Chevrolet vehicle when he crashed into the back of a trailer hauled by a Chevrolet pickup. Vehicle Crashes Into Pole After Driver Suffers Medical Emergency: Newark PD
A man was hospitalized after he experienced a medical emergency while driving and crashed into a pole in Newark on the morning of Thursday, Aug. 8, authorities said. At 11:10 a.m., police responded to a vehicle colliding with a pole at Lyons Avenue and Hobson Street, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The man driving the vehicle had a medical emergency and he was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation, Fragé said. No other injuries have been reported and the crash remains under investigation, Fragé said.

22-Year-Old Newark Woman Killed In Route 280 Crash In Harrison
A 22-year-old Newark driver was killed in a crash on Route 280 in Harrison early Saturday morning, July 27, New Jersey State Police said. According to NJSP Sgt. Charles Marchan, Kaylee Mendez was heading east when she ran off the road to the right and struck a guardrail around 1:25 a.m. She was ejected from the vehicle and killed. The vice president of a scrap metal company died in a crash in Ocean County, authorities said. Kevin Scoda, 24, of Edison, was killed in the crash on Route 72, the Stafford Township Police Department said in a news release on Tuesday, July 23. Two Struck By Hit, Run Driver: Newark PD
Two people were struck by a driver who fled the scene in Newark on the early morning of Monday, June 24, authorities said. At 1:34 a.m., police responded to South Munn Avenue near Plymouth Street after an e-bike driver and his passenger were struck by a vehicle, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. After being hit, the e-bike driver struck a parked car in the area, Fragé said. Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition, Fragé said. The driver fled the scene, Fragé said. The incident remains under investigation, Fragé said.
