Joshua Ronan, 30, of Lansdale, has been charged with Criminal Attempt-Murder of the First Degree and Aggravated Assault, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele and Hatfield Police Chief William Tierney said on Thursday, Nov. 21.
Ronan, who is also wanted in Cape May, NJ for a drug violation, is accused of attacking 41-year-old Mark Miller on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, at a home on Cabin Road, according to the affidavit of probable cause obtained by Daily Voice.
Victim Found Unresponsive, Suffering Severe Trauma
Hatfield police were called to 1295 Cabin Road around 11:11 p.m. for a report of a possible overdose. Officers found Miller unresponsive in the driveway with severe blunt-force trauma to his head and face. Believing he may have overdosed, officers administered Narcan, but Miller remained unresponsive and was rushed to Grandview Hospital.
Medical staff determined Miller had life-threatening injuries, including missing teeth, multiple broken facial bones, bi-lateral brain bleeds, and a broken scapula. Trauma surgeon Dr. Joshua Cassedy told detectives that Miller required emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain and described his condition as critical.
Witnesses Say Ronan Fled The Scene
Witnesses told investigators that Miller and Ronan had been outside the home with others when an argument broke out. One resident reported finding Ronan standing over Miller’s unconscious, bloodied body and later saw Ronan leave the scene with others in a truck, according to the affidavit.
Detectives later found a red brick wrapped in a balaclava mask in the backseat of the vehicle where Ronan had been sitting.
Ronan, who has an extensive criminal history in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, remains at large. Authorities are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to his capture.
Anyone with information on Ronan’s whereabouts is urged to contact Montgomery County detectives at 610-226-5553 or Hatfield police at 215-855-0903.
