Snow Totals: These NJ Towns Were Hit Hardest By Winter Storm Schools across South Jersey were closed Monday, Jan. 6 due to snow, with Cape May County recording the highest totals, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).  A winter storm swept across the state, dumping up to 8 inches of snow in some areas and creating picturesque scenes — and some travel headaches. The highest snowfall in the state was measured 2 miles northwest of Cape May, where a cooperative observer reported 8.1 inches of accumulation at 1 p.m., the NWS reports.
