NJ Ranked Second-Best State To Live In US, New Study Says: Here's Why
From strong schools and health care to high incomes and low crime, several Northeast states are among the best places to live, according to a new study.
WalletHub released its 2026 Best States to Live In list on Monday, Aug. 10. The study ranked all 50 states using 51 measures of livability, from housing affordability and income growth to education, health, quality of life, and safety.

Pedestrian Struck, Killed In Hit, Run Crash: East Windsor PD
An East Windsor man was arrested and charged following a deadly hit and run pedestrian crash on Sunday, Aug. 9, authorities said.
At 10:59 p.m., officers responded to Route 33 and Probasco Road after a car struck two pedestrian crossing Route 33 at the intersection, East Windsor police said. The driver, Herman J. Santos-Morales, failed to remain at the scene and report the crash, police said.

Person Shot In Groin: Bridgeton PD
A person was shot in the groin in Bridgeton early Saturday morning, Aug. 8, authorities said.
At 5:44 a.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Maple Drive and found a person with a gunshot wound to the groin, Bridgeton police said. The shooting occurred after the person was an argument with people, when one individual reached into his firearm, removed a firearm and then fired a gun, police said. The group fled the area on foot, police said.
The victim was uncooperative and transported to a nearby hospital, police said. The shooting remains under investigation, police said.
