A Manahawkin man will spend the rest of his life in prison for brutally raping and killing a toddler, authorities said. Michael Disporto, 30, was sentenced on Thursday, Oct. 10 to life in prison without parole, Camden County Prosecutor Grace MacAulay said in a news release. Wayward Bullet Strikes Resident In Home Near Camden County Dispute: Prosecutor
A 67-year-old woman was struck by a wayward bullet that was inadvertently fired into her home in Camden County, authorities said. A 51-year-old man from Gloucester City has been arrested for firing the shot during an argument, they said. A 28-year-old man has been reported missing in Camden County, authorities said. Christopher Auger was reported missing from his residence in the Erial section of Gloucester Township, local police said on Wednesday, July 31. Motorcyclist, 45, Killed In Camden County Crash
A 45-year-old motorcyclist from Camden County was killed in a crash Sunday, June 2, in Gloucester City, authorities said. Christopher R. Chester, of Lawnside, was on the exit 1B ramp from Interstate 76 south to Interstate 295 north at 9:45 a.m. when he lost control of his Suzuki motorcycle, struck a guardrail and was thrown from the Suzuki, New Jersey State Police said. Chester was pronounced dead at the scene.

Large Crane Catches Fire Near Walt Whitman Bridge
A large crane caught fire near the Walt Whitman Bridge in Gloucester City Tuesday morning, May 21. The fire occurred on an industrial crane near a ship at the Gloucester City Terminal on 160 Essex Street at about 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, according to nbcphiladelphia.com. An unconfirmed report said that smoke had caused the closure of the westbound lanes of the bridge. There were no reports of any injuries.
