Shots Fired In Franklin Township: Police
Gunshots were fired in Franklin Township on the early morning of Sunday, Sept. 1, authorities said. At 1:15 a.m., Franklin Township Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting gunshots heard in the area of Franklin Boulevard, between Matilda Avenue and Baier Avenue, officers said. Police located several gunshot rounds but said no injuries were reported. The incident is currently under investigation by the Franklin Township Police Department Investigative Division, officers said.

18 Pounds Of Pot Seized From Consignment Shop Drug Ring Trio In North Jersey: Police
Three people have been arrested after authorities uncovered a massive drug ring being run out of a North Jersey thrift store. Search warrants executed at businesses, storage units, and vehicles in Bloomingdale, Newton, and Wayne turned up 18 pounds of marijuana and 1.13 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, Bloomingdale police said. Irvington Man, Garfield Woman Busted for Having Sex In Public: Newark PD
A 44-year-old Garfield woman and a 39-year-old Irvington man were recently arrested for having sex in public multiple times in Newark, authorities said. Melissa Barrett and Christopher Turner were arrested following multiple acts of lewdness that occurred between February 2024 and August 2024, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. On Sunday, Feb. 24, at 8:30 a.m., two juveniles reported they observed a man and woman having sex in public on the 200 block of Ferry Street, Fragé said. A video showing the arrest of a 28-year-old surfer from California in New Jersey apparently over failure to possess a beach badge is under review, authorities said. Video taken Tuesday, Aug. 20, and shared to Facebook by Austin Downs, shows officers arresting Liam Mahoney of Junction City, CA, in Belmar. Man Arrested For Masturbating At Bridgewater Target: Police
A 21-year-old East Orange man was arrested and charged on Thursday, Aug. 8 with masturbating at a Target in Bridgewater earlier this month, police said. On Thursday, Aug. 1 at 7:21 p.m., Jason Banks was seen exposing his genitals and gratifying himself in the toy aisle of the Target on Promenade Boulevard, Bridgewater police said in a release. A week later, police located Banks and arrested him after conducting an interview, officers said. He was charged with lewdness and lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing, police said.

Driving Too Slowly Gets Man Busted For DWI: Sparta PD
A 45-year-old Franklin man was arrested for DWI on the early morning of Sunday, Aug. 11, after he was observed driving 10 miles below the speed limit, authorities said. At 1:48 a.m., officers were patrolling Sparta Avenue when they noticed a vehicle driving southbound failing to maintain a single lane of travel and driving below the speed limit, Sparta police said. Police were at the scene of a crash involving a pedestrian in a Monmouth County township, authorities said. Officers responded to the crash on Bethany Road on Monday, Aug. 12, Holmdel police said in a Facebook post at 9:15 a.m. The crash investigation closed Bethany between Hillcrest and Line roads. A man masturbated in front of another customer at Target on Thursday, Aug. 1 in Bridgewater, authorities said. The suspect arrived and exited the parking lot of the Target in the Bridgewater Promenade at 200 Promenade Blvd. in a gray Hyundai Elantra, Bridgewater police said. An Edison man was accused of stabbing another man he knew during a fight, authorities said. Dante Wright, 24, was given several charges including attempted murder, South Brunswick police Chief Raymond Hayducka said in a news release on Sunday, Aug. 4. A 57-year-old Butler resident was driving while intoxicated when he drove head-on into a police car in Morris County on Friday, July 26, sending the officer and his own passenger to the hospital, authorities said.
