NJ Ranks Among Top States For Hospital Safety In Fall 2024, Leapfrog Report Finds
New Jersey hospitals are among the safest in the nation, according to the fall 2024 Hospital Safety Grade report from The Leapfrog Group.
The Garden State ranks in the top 10 states for the highest percentage of "A" hospitals, joining states like Utah, Virginia, and Connecticut. The grades, which are updated twice a year, assess nearly 3,000 hospitals across the country on their effectiveness at preventing medical errors, accidents, and infections.

These Two New Jersey Counties Flipped From Red To Blue In 2020
As President Joe Biden cruised to victory in New Jersey in the 2020 presidential election, he got some help from two counties that went his way after voting for former President Donald Trump in 2016: Morris and Gloucester.
Morris County went to Biden, 51.14% to 46.90%, 153,881 votes to 141,134 votes. It was a remarkable turnaround for a county that hadn't voted Democrat at the presidential level since Lyndon Johnson defeated Barry Goldwater in 1964.
In 2016, Morris County voted for Trump, who defeated Clinton 126,071 votes to 115,249 votes, 49.72% to 45.46%.

Ice Cream Shop Worker Killed In Route 80 Crash Left Lasting Impact On Customers, Coworkers
Monday, Nov. 4 was going to be a big day for Cameron Ray.
It would have been the 19-year-old MSU sophomore's first day of work at Das' Creamery's new location, Das' Creamery MooTown Morris Marketplace, on East Hanover Avenue in Morristown.
Ray, of Flanders, joined Das' staff in April 2021, and has brought light and life to the ice cream shop ever since, the shop's owners tell Daily Voice.
But early Sunday morning, Nov. 3, 19-year-old Ray was killed when he rear-ended a box truck on the shoulder of Route 80 in Denville.
So, celebrations at Das' Creamery MooTown will have to wait.

Emily Madden, Former Valedictorian, North Jersey Nurse, Dies At 27
Emily Madden, a nurse and Clifton resident, died on Sunday, July 21, according to her obituary on the Ferguson Funeral Home website. She was 27 years old.
Madden was the valedictorian of Wallkill Valley Regional High School's Class of 2015 before attending college and becoming a registered nurse, right before the COVID-19 pandemic, her obituary says.
"She was an incredible young woman with so much promise," David Carr, the superintendent for Wallkill Valley Regional High School said. "We are so sad to hear of her passing and our thoughts and prayers are with her family.
