A Woodstown man reportedly admitted to having about a half-dozen beers before the crash that killed Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, arrest records said. Sean Higgins, 43, was facing several charges including two counts of assault by auto, according to court records. He was accused of striking the NHL star and his brother while they were riding bicycles in Oldmans Township on Thursday, Aug. 29. A young boy died on Labor Day after he was pulled from an Ocean County swimming pool a few days earlier, authorities said. The four-year-old was pronounced dead at Jersey Shore University Medical Center on Monday, Sept. 2, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said in a news release. A 32-year-old New York man is facing charges in Paramus, NJ for pretending he was held at knifepoint in one location when, in fact, he was burglarizing another, police said. Central Jersey Woman, 81, Killed As Passenger In Two-Vehicle Crash
A Monroe Township woman was killed in a crash in Freehold, authorities said. Gloria Tucker, 81, died in the crash on Thursday, Aug. 29, a Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office spokesperson said. Freehold Township police responded to the wreck on Wemrock Road near Route 33 Business at around 2:24 p.m. Investigators said Tucker was a passenger in the two-vehicle crash. Shots Fired In Franklin Township: Police
Gunshots were fired in Franklin Township on the early morning of Sunday, Sept. 1, authorities said. At 1:15 a.m., Franklin Township Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting gunshots heard in the area of Franklin Boulevard, between Matilda Avenue and Baier Avenue, officers said. Police located several gunshot rounds but said no injuries were reported. The incident is currently under investigation by the Franklin Township Police Department Investigative Division, officers said.
