Boy, 4, Critical After Near-Drowning In Jersey Shore Swimming Pool: Police
A 4-year-old boy was in critical but stable condition after nearly drowning in a Jersey Shore swimming pool Friday, Aug. 30, authorities said. Berkeley Township Police responded to a home in South Seaside Park on a report that a boy had been removed from a swimming pool and found to unresponsive around 3:30 p.m., Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said. Emergency life-saving techniques were performed on the child. He was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he is listed in critical but stable condition. Teen Airlifted In UTV Accident On Sussex County Farm: Police
An 18-year-old male was airlifted to the hospital following a crash on a Sussex County farm on Monday, Aug. 26, local police said. The male was riding on the back of the UTV, a larger type of ATV, which was being used to perform work on a farm on Layton Lane in Sparta, Sparta Police Capt. Tom Snyder said. The UTV made an unexpected turn and the victim lost his balance, falling off and hitting his head, Snyder said. He lost consciousness and was flown to the hospital. "The operator of the UTV was fully cooperative with patrol units and showed no signs of intoxication," Snyder said.

Boy Airlifted After Stepping On Hot Coals Illegally Dumped On NJ Beach, Officials Say
A boy was airlifted to a hospital after officials say he stepped on hot coals that had been illegally dumped on a New Jersey beach. Paramedics and EMTs from Sea Bright and Robert Wood Johnson were called to Sandy Hook near Guardian Park, where they found the boy with burns to both feet around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, Gateway National Recreation Area spokeswoman Daphne Yun said. Irvington Woman Convicted Of Killing Toddler In Her Care After Sharing Her Side Of Story
A 44-year-old Irvington woman was convicted of manslaughter on Friday, Aug. 9 in the death of a two-year-old child she was babysitting in 2021, authorities said. Claire Gelin was babysitting the victim from Feb. 15 to Feb. 19 in her Irvington apartment, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II said. The child sustained serious from physical abuse on Feb. 17 and Feb. 18, but Gelin did not call 911 until Friday, Feb. 19, Stephens said. School Bus Involved In Three-Vehicle Crash On Jersey Shore, Minor Injuries Reported
A school bus and two other vehicles crashed in Neptune Township, officials said. The crash happened on Route 33 East near the intersection with Jumping Brook Road, the Neptune Township Office of Emergency Management said in a Facebook post at 8:46 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 9. No children were on the bus during the crash. Neptune paramedics responded to the scene to treat people for minor injuries. A woman was attacked by a man inside a library at Princeton University, authorities said. The attack happened inside the Lewis Science Library at about 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, the university's Department of Public Safety said in a campus alert. The woman reported she was working in a room on the fourth floor when a man asked her for help. The man then grabbed the woman by her neck and pushed her against a wall. An off-duty police officer came to the aid of an 18-year-old man who was struck by a boat propeller on Greenwood Lake last month. Vernon Cpl. Steve Rovetto was on the lake in West Milford when he saw that the man had been struck around 6 p.m. June 20, and called 9-1-1, West Milford Police Capt. Parrello said. A New Jersey woman was killed in upstate New York over the weekend when a tree fell on her camper during fierce thunderstorms that ripped through the region, authorities said. Dive Teams Pull Victim From NJ Pond In 2nd Possible Drowning In 12 Hours
Less than 12 hours after responding to a drowning a Crystal Lake, dive teams and emergency responders from across Ocean County were called to a similar incident. This time, in one of the ponds off of Whitesbog Road in Manchester Township, responders said. According to the Whiting Fire Department, dive teams responded to the scene just after 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 22, on reports of a victim submerged in one of the ponds.
