Horses Extricated From Trailer In NJ Turnpike Crash, Firefighters Say Several horses were medically treated after the trailers they were being towed in were struck on the New Jersey Turnpike Tuesday, Sept. 10, firefighters said. The Cherry Hill Fire Department said the crash happened in the southbound lanes near milepost 26, and involved a utility van and a truck towing the trailer. Lightning Strike Causes Fire At Turtle Back Zoo, Officials Say A North Jersey zoo erupted in flames after being struck by lightning on Wednesday, Aug. 28, officials said. West Orange responders got a call from the Turtle Back Zoo saying its Sea Turtle Recovery Building had been struck by lightning around 9:45 p.m., a spokesperson for the town said. Firefighters and police officers responded and put out the blaze. Essex County Sherriff officers were on scene as well.

A French bulldog named Klipse who went tumbling 40 feet down a cliff at Palisades Interstate Park was rescued by Port Authority Police officers on Tuesday morning July 30, PAPD spokeswoman Lenis Valens said. Woman Clinging To Tree, Her Dog Rescued After Falling In Ocean County Firefighters rescued a woman who was clinging to a tree after she and her dog fell in Brick Township, officials said. Herbertsville firefighters responded to the scene on Winding River Road at around 6:44 p.m. on Monday, June 17, the fire company said in a Facebook post.  Crews found the woman and her dog fell 10 to 15 feet down an embankment. The woman was hanging onto a tree to prevent falling any further. Firefighters used rope to pull the woman and her dog to safety. The fire company didn't say if either one suffered injuries.
