Murphy Waives NJ Transit Fares: Here's What To Know
Want to take NJ Transit for free? Now is your chance. Gov. Phil Murphy announced a transit fare holiday for all customers from Monday, Aug. 26 through Monday, Sept. 2. During this period, fares will be waived for all modes of transportation. Murphy said this is meant as a "thank you" to riders, who have experienced numerous disruptions this summer. Large Water Main Break Douses Homes, Displaces Several Central Jersey Residents
A large water main broke in Edison, displacing residents and dousing two homes, officials said. The 30-inch water main break happened on Woodbrook Drive on Monday, Aug. 12, Mayor Sam Joshi said in a Facebook post at 5:04 p.m. The mayor shared three photos showing water heavily spraying a blue home. A person struck by a train briefly delayed NJ Transit service Friday, Aug. 9, officials said. The male was struck by Northeast Corridor train 3875, which left New York Penn Station at 6:47 p.m. around 8:30 p.m. just west of Jersey Ave Station in New Brunswick, NJ Transit officials said. Body Found Floating In NJ River
Police recovered a body from a New Jersey river early Thursday, Aug. 8, authorities said. Marine Service Troopers were dispatched to the Raritan River and South River in East Brunswick around 7:40 a.m., where they found a man's body floating in the water, NJSP Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. No further information was provided. The incident remains under investigation.
