An Essex County pair wanted out of multiple towns were arrested at a Paramus mall getting into a stolen Lexus, before one was found with a handgun, police said. Officer Kevin Grady was patrolling the parking lot at Westfield's Garden State Plaza Saturday, July 6, when he noticed a 2012 white Lexus R35 that had ben stolen out of Orange on July 3, Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti said. A 23-year-old East Orange man was recently convicted of aggravated assault after violently beating a woman over a remote control in 2023, authorities said. In April 2023, John Davis was staying in a woman's apartment when he assaulted her when she raised an issue over a TV remote control, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II said. The woman suffered a broken eye socket and a brain bleed and was hospitalized for several days, Stephens said. A 30-year-old Newark woman whose 5-year-old son shot and killed his 4-year-old brother, has been convicted in the 2022 murder of a man, authorities said. Itiyanah Spruill was convicted of murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the fatal shooting of Lance Sally, Jr. in Nov. 2022, following a two-week trial, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II said. Spruill lured Sally to the location where he was shot by an unidentified individual and drove the vehicle used in the homicide, Stephens said. An Essex County Grand Jury declined to indict Columbia High School principal Frank Sanchez on charges of endangering the welfare of a child on Thursday, June 13, authorities announced.
